Greetings from cold, wet Mansfield-Winter is in full swing with some good snowfalls expected at Mt Buller over the next few days.
It’ Friday, and the traffic is starting to build as people head for the slopes. The stream of buses that come through on weekends is amazing, although as day trippers, it doesn’t bring much business to town unless you do coffee or ski hire.
For those who do take the time to have a look around, they are well rewarded, with plenty of warming winter reds to enjoy, plus the awesome Tin Shed Spiced Cider, a sure-fire cure for the July chills.
Recently, High Country Wine Cellars assisted with a fundraiser for the Mansfield District Hospital run by the auxiliary. “Denim and Diamonds” was a great event, and many thanks to some of our wine and beer partners for sponsoring the night with generous donations of their quality product.
To Delatite Wines, Ros Ritchie Wines, Barwite Vineyard, St Winifreds, Tin Shed Cider, Mansfield Brewing Company, and Jamieson Brewery-thanks for your support of this event.
Our hospital and their staff do an amazing job and deserve all the funds they can get.
HCWC was also delighted to supply the Mansfield Music and Dramatic Society (MMuDS) with wines for their recent season of Man of La Mancha.
The show was a great success and the quality of our local actors and musicians is just outstanding.
Sauvignon Blanc drinkers will be interested to hear we have secured an absolute bargain buy from Glenburn based winery Philip Lobley. He has offered us a special buy on his 2012 Sauv Blanc 2012 which we can sell for just $10 per bottle. Stock will arrive in the next few days so come in and snap up a bottle.
Don’t forget we do wine by the glass in store on Fridays and Saturdays. So come in for a post-work drink, enjoy a cheese platter, or bring in your own food and settle into one of our comfy couches.
Stay warm, and remember “I drink wine because the doctor said I shouldn’t keep things bottled up.”
