After a quiet February, when everyone settles back into their routine for the new year, March is now upon us with plenty to look forward to in wine, and lots of fun to be had around Mansfield and the High Country.
Something new into our cellar door is a red blend from Little River Wines at Taggerty. The 2010 Little River Blend is 70% Cab-Sav, 27% Pinot Noir, and 3% Merlot.
The distinctive rich berry flavours of the Cab-Sav is complemented by the lighter cherry aromas of Pinot Noir, well worth trying for a change.
The warm weather has seen white and lighter red styles being the most popular, especially the aromatic Rieslings, delicious Sauv-Blancs, and Pinot Gris.
In reds, our range of lighter elegant Pinot Noir and smooth silky Cab-Merlot and straight Merlot have also been popular, but with nights now becoming a bit cooler, the Shiraz and Cab-Sauv’s are back in vogue as well.
March will be a busy time with the long weekend, when people take the opportunity to enjoy our great rivers, lakes, and mountains while the weather is still nice. The Bonnie Doon Music and Busker Festival on March 14-16 will see the serenity blown away for the weekend.
High country Wine Cellars will be there to sell wine by the glass in partnership with Barwite vineyards, while our friends from Tin Shed Cider will also be there, so come along for some great music and a glass of the high Country’s finest reds and whites.
Finally we have lots of cyclists coming to Mansfield for the annual Tour de Flavour, another great event for the area.
Call in and say ‘Hi’, have a tasting with us, and take a bottle of the high country away with you.
