WELL, just in time for the school holidays, Mother Nature has jumped in on cue and delivered Mt Buller a dump of snow, with 45cm as at June 25 with more on the way.
There’s certainly a buzz around town and on the mountain with expectations at altitude of a busy couple of weeks as skiers and boarders head for our hills.
But it is very cold, so you’ll need some nice, warming, High Country reds to sip on Apres Ski to celebrate our favourite high altitude sport.
Our range of wines has expanded with the introduction of more Strathbogie wineries including Garners Heritage Wines and Murphy Wines to complement our extensive Upper Goulburn Region selection.
From Garners we have a full bodies, lucious black fruit 2012 Shiraz with notes of spice and savoury, and two Rose’s (2011 & 2012) both made from Shiraz grapes. The 2011 is the dryer of the two and both are great drinking for those not so keen on big reds.
Murphy Wines have produced a 2013 ‘California Dreaming’ Chardonnay and the taste is like nothing you have ever tasted before in Chardonnay-a rich juicy fruit palate with butterscotch tones. Even a hard core wine lover like myself is enjoying this unique wine.
High Country Wine Cellars can arrange delivery to your lodge on Buller, and after-hours pick-up can also be arranged, so check out our website or call in to High Country Wine Cellars and view our huge range of wines, plus local cider and beer.
Have a safe and happy time in the High Country, and if snow’s not your thing, just take in the sights and enjoy the Mansfield hospitality at the many hotels, cafes, restaurants, and of course our cellar door.
With the snow here, things are looking downhill, and we’re on top of the world because of it.
